2.pixel
3.bmp
4.crop
5.mirror
6.fps (frames per second)
7.frame
8.dpi
9.resolution
10.file extension

Is Digital Art Real Art?

Digital Art_Real Art

Before i start discussing if Digital art is Real art i think we should find out a definition on what art means:

  • A definition of art: Art is objects, Drawings, Etchings, Paintings, Sculptures, Stage Designs, Portraits , etc.

Source for definition:www.bl.uk/catalogues/photographyinbooks/Glossary.asp

1. A discussion point. “Is digital art a valid form of art?”

The source i used to find out the definition of Art. It defines Art as being objects, Drawings, Etchings, Paintings, Sculptures, Stage Designs, Portraits , etc. This definition doesn't say that art cannot be made on the Internet. You can make paintings, drawing and portraits on the computer and a lot of work goes into producing all these things. For example people say that the computer does all the work for you, this is not necessarily true. There are many tools on the computer that are even harder to use than paintbrushes. People who make art would be able to say to painters that the paint brush does all the work, but that wouldn't be true would it? It is the same with computers. The computer doesn't do all the work for you when making the art. So Digital art is Real art.

2.What are some of the advantages that digital paint and draw programs offer over the traditional methods (canvas and paint).

When using canvas and paint if you make a mistake you will have to start the whole project again, if you are almost finished a art work and you mess it up all your hard work will be ruined, but if you use photo shop for example you can save your project in the middle so if you make a mistake you can always go back and correct it. There are also tool like undo and rubber.

3.What skills must a digital artist possess to create great digital art?

I would think that they should be experienced on all the programs used to make art and also should know all the tools and what they are used for. These should be two of the main skills digital artists would need to be able to create digital art.

Digital Media:Questions and Answers

Question 1)
First off lets see if we can list how many forms of digital media surrond us (you should be able to come up with at least 5.)
  1. Digital (Mobile Phone)
  2. Digital (Laptop)
  3. Internet
  4. Digital (Video Game)
  5. Digital (Watch)
Question 2)
What number system is digital data based on? What two digits are used to code all digital data?

Digital data is based on the binary numeral system and the two digits that are used to code all of the digital data is "0" and "1".

Question 3)
What is a Bit? What is a Byte?

A bit is the smallest unit on the computer that can be represented as "0" or "1". A Byte is a sequence that most commonly consists of eight bits

Question 4)
What is sampling rate? Find an image that explains how sampling works.

Sampling rate is said to be the number of samples per second taken from a constant signal which is to make a clear signal.

Analog Signal and resulting sample signal

Question 5)
How does colour depth or bit depth effect the appearance of an image? Find some images that illustrate the effect.

Colour depth is when a number of bits are used to denote the colour of a single pixel which can be in a bitmap image or a video frame buffer.

Question 6) Colour depth effects both stilla and video digital media.Sampling rate only effects video but not still media. Can you explain?

(TROUBLE UNDERSTANDING)
